GoPro Adds Touchscreen LCD To Entry Level Hero Lineup [PHOTOS]

After introducing the entry level Hero cameras just late last year, GoPro announces a new and improved GoPro Hero as a new addition to their ever-growing and developing line of action cameras.

The GoPro Hero+ LCD largely boasts of a touchscreen LCD that features 1080p60 and 720p60 video, 8 megapixel photos, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and waterproof capabilities of up to 131 feet.

Released on Monday, the new Hero+ edition is a great combination of new and old features. Like its predecessor, the GoPro Hero, the Hero+ LCD is built onto its waterproof housing.

GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman described the new entry level camera in a statement: "Hero+ LCD illustrates that even as we push the limits of life capture with bleeding-edge devices like the Hero4 Black, we're also focused on delivering accessible, high-quality capture solution to anyone wanting to GoPro."

The LCD is a touch screen, making it much easier to select settings as well as frame shots. Just like the latest GoPro cameras, the GoPro Hero+ LCD can connect to any mobile device like a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This also allows users to make full use of the GoPro app on their mobile device for easier control.

But a lot of new features are still to be expected from the new entry-level adventure companion. The new LCD comes with HiLight Tagging, allowing users to easily mark and look back on the recorded moments like a bookmark while recording or during playback.

There's also the newly introduced video-trimming feature. The trimming capability can be used to edit or create short clips sans file transferring onto a computer.

The QuikCapture feature also allows GoPro users to record videos immediately once the camera is turned on. It can also support micro SD cards of at least Class 10 or UHS-I of up to 64GB. Even better, the camera can record up to two hours of footage from one full charge.

The recent addition to the entry-level camera lineup is priced at $300. Photographers and filmmakers can get their hands on the new device on June 7 in the U.S., while international availability will be on July 12.
