Multiplatinum recording artist and former American Idol judge Mariah Carey has nothing good to say about the recently cancelled popular reality TV show she used to be a part of. In her interview on May 28, 2015 with Australian KISS FM radio hosts Kyle and Jackie, she deliberately said that the show was boring and fake.
According to Fox News, the singer revealed that they (the judges) were asked to make things interesting that it doesn't matter if they make stuff up regarding the contestants just so the show would remain on air. She was adamant in stressing out that the entire show was not real.
When asked if she planned to come back to do a reunion show with her co-judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj, USA Today quoted her saying it was the worst experience of her life.
Carey was part of the 12th season American Idol and during that time, the audience could not help but notice the feud between her and rapper Nicki Minaj. Since she's coming out about all the fakeness of what's going on in the show, the question was if their indifferences during that season were also part to make things interesting.
Entertainment Weekly said she didn't get into the details of that matter, and simply reiterated that it was bad that the network did want for the two of them to hate on each other. She added that the focus was supposed to be about the contestants and not on their fight. Thar did not really serve any good purpose in the show. As a result of the experience, she said she'll never want to do it again. The singer also said that spending time on that table along with the other judges was boring.
The network eventually hired Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Conick Jr. when it returned on the 15th and final season. Ryan Seacrest remained to be the only original cast since the show started.
