Bristol Palin's wedding is not going to push through and Sarah Palin's daughter is finally speaking up. She was engaged to be married to US Marine and war veteran Sgt. Dakota Meyer.
The 24-year old shared a post on her official Facebook account on Tuesday, May 26, days after her mother, Governor Palin announced it on the same social media site.
"Sorry it's taken me so long to talk about this.. It's been hard," she said.
In her emotional blog post titled "The Wedding That Didn't Happen", the single mother spoke about her failed engagement with Meyer. She went on to ask for prayers for her 'painful time for family and friends.'
"I know God's plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated,"
Palin and Meyer, who openly announced their engagement just last March, were originally set to tie the knot this May 23, according to Huffington Post.
Despite the news, the Palin family still pushed through with the Memorial Day Weekend celebrations on the Meyers' Kentucky farm.
While Palin and Meyer have not yet talked about the real reasons behind their cancelled wedding, a few rumors have come out that Meyer's previous marriage with a Michigan-based woman back in 2008 was among the major factors.
As for the issue, the Dancing with the Stars alum also broke her silence and released a statement regarding what tabloids called the 'secret wives' scandal. She said, "Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement".
Following her statement, the Palin family immediately dismissed the rumors.
Palin ended her blog post with a simple thank you message for all the love and support she has received.
She also posted several photos of her 6-year-old son Tripp on her official Instagram account. Despite the unfortunate circumstance, Palin has remained strong and positive for herself and her son.
