'The Walking Dead' Star Michael Rooker Cast in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Director James Gunn's new film 'The Belko Experiment'

When it comes to the entertainment business, it always pays to have friends in high places. Most directors, producers and actors are known to collaborate in more than just one movie. Some teams are created once they discover they have an excellent working experience, which leads to life-long friendships.

In line with that tradition, James Gunn has just announced that long-time collaborator Michael Rooker will star in his new project. The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director made a lengthy post on his Facebook page.

"We've done three movies, two reality shows, a video game and a web series together, been on a bromantic trip to Paris with just the two of us, and spent many nights as the last two maniacs at a party, so did you ever think there was any possibility that my pal Michael Rooker would not be cast in our horror/action/thriller The Belko Experiment, especially when it's been comprised of such overwhelming talent? Of course not."

According to Gunn's post, Rooker will play Belko building's head of maintenance Bud Melks. The character is said to be a typical good guy unlike most of Rooker's usual roles.

Gunn wrote the script for 'The Belko Experiment,' which will be directed by Greg McLean. The horror thriller is about a company in South America that suddenly shuts down, trapping its employees in the building and forces them to kill each other in order to survive.

'The Belko Experiment' will also star Tony Goldwyn, John C. McGinley, John Gallagher and Melonie Diaz. Gunn reveals that filming is scheduled to begin in June at Bogota, Colombia.

Rooker and Gunn have previously worked on 'Slither,' 'Cliffhanger' and the highly successful zombie TV series 'The Walking Dead.' Rooker recently made news for trying to convince Gunn to cast actor Jason Mewes in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' sequel.
