Grey’s Anatomy Patrick Dempsey: Cast Doesn’t Know WHY Shonda Rhimes Fired McDreamy, Was It Over Patrick Dempsey Affair?

The Internet remains abuzz after the "Grey's Anatomy" Patrick Dempsey death in late April, as the sudden departure of Dr. Derek Shepherd made little to no sense to fans of the first successful Shonda Rhimes show - and apparently the cast of the long-running series isn't too sure either about what happened.

Shows like "Grey's," "Scandal" and most recently "How To Get Away With Murder" have turned Rhimes into the queen of network television, earning success and millions of dollars over years of work, as well as a loyal fanbase for her current and upcoming projects - but it seems like the new "Grey's Anatomy" Patrick Dempsey situation could stir things up on the sets of her upcoming dramas.

According to Us Weekly, James Pickens Jr. (who plays Dr. Richard Webber in the long-running show) was recently interviewed about the great shock of the season, the "Grey's Anatomy" Patrick Dempsey departure on the April 23 episode after rumors circulated about the actor clashing with Rhimes.

"We didn't know a whole lot. It was kind of on the fly," said Pickens, speaking about the "Grey's Anatomy" Patrick Dempsey departure. "So whatever information we got, we pretty much got it kind of right before it happened."

In the meantime, the past week as seen rumors circulating about the reason behind the "Grey's Anatomy" Patrick Dempsey departure, as it has been reported that the 49 year-old star was booted off the series after engaging in an illicit affair with one of the show's crew members and being caught by co-star Ellen Pompeo, who in turn told his then-wife Jillian.

However, Metro says that Dempsey has denied these reports, as his representatives stated that the allegations were "ridiculous" and "an absurd story" while the original "Grey's Anatomy" Patrick Dempsey departure report by In Touch Weekly has been deleted from the magazine's website.
