Free Breakfast? Fastfood giant, McDonald's is hitting the same spot with its current contemporary in the breakfast arena. And the latest, it seemed that there's some kind of breakfast war gearing up as McDonald's is offering free Egg McMuffin sandwich at participating locations in Pennsylvania before April 17.
Customers who bring their Taco Bell receipt to McDonald's before April 17 will get a free Egg McMuffin. The free breakfast offered by McDonald's was slated on April 3 and will be running for a period of 14 days.
"Clearly, at least some McDonald's folks are concerned about the potential competition at breakfast that Taco Bell could provide over time-and maybe is providing right now," Janney Capital Markets analyst Mark Kalinowski stated.
Analysis by experts showed that currently McDonald's is preparing extraordinary promotion to take the lead in the breakfast segment. This only means that the fastfood giant is becoming worried about the existing breakfast competition in the market, the Slate reports.
Before free breakfast was launched on April 3 in McDonald's Pennsylvania braches, they also initiated serving all-day breakfast at certain restaurants in the San Diego area.
While the free breakfast was at the height of its promotion, the fastfood giant hasn't released any statement whether it will also be available in other stores, according to CNN.
Breakfast war is obviously happening between McDonald's and Taco Bell.
Taco Bell has been ready in battling McDonald's with breakfast offerings since it started serving breakfast last year.
To attack the present offer of McDonald's, Taco Bell released a recent TV ad showing the fastfood giant as a 'communist' by forcing everyone to eat Egg McMuffins in their free breakfast offer.
McDonald's is reining the breakfast market since 2013. It has garnered 19 percent market share in serving breakfast according to Nielsen Co. data. Next to the fastfood giant are Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts, which both shares 7 percent market share.
With McDonald's deflating sales, it is now ready to do anything to win the market, be it McDonald's free breakfast.
What's next after McDonald's free breakfast? Will the fastfood giant be able to win back its previous place in the market?
