Ever since the announcement of the film about the DC Comics team of villains, particularly when Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto signed up top play the role that gave Heath Ledger a posthumous Academy Award, comic books fans have eagerly awaited for news of the "Suicide Squad" cast ... and now we get the first-ever pics!
David Ayer, the director of the movie, is taking tips from a fellow DC Universe director, Zack Snyder, who has been teasing fans for months by posting pictures of the cast of his own film in costume through his Twitter account: now, the "Suicide Squad" cast gets the same special treatment!
Snyder's film, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to be released in the early spring of 2016, and stars some of the biggest heroes of DC Comics altogether, including Jason Momoa as Aquaman, with Superman arch-nemesis Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) as the villain - though the "Suicide Squad" cast has nothing on the good-guy movie!
Empire Online reported the first exciting picture earlier this week, as Ayer posted a photo on his Twitter account of most of the "Suicide Squad" cast during a reading, including, as seen above: Will Smith (who will be playing Deadshot), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller).
Two of the biggest names in the cast, Leto (who plays The Joker) and Clint's look alike Scott Eastwood, are absent from the pic.
However, as IGN reports, that's not the "Suicide Squad" cast pic making headlines this week, but rather the first glimpse of Leto as the iconic Batman nemesis: in the picture, he's seen holding a camera with green hair, in a manner reminiscent of one of the most celebrated comic books of all time, the Alan Moore and Brian Bolland collaboration "The Killing Joke."
While the picture of Leto shows the actor without make-up, it's certainly enough to keep headlines coming!
In the meantime, fans still wait for pics of the "Suicide Squad" cast in full costume.
