Hugh Jackman Wolverine RETIRING After 15 Years – Will He Take ‘X-Men’ Role One Last Time? [PHOTO]

The Oscar-nominated actor and Broadway star is the person to have appeared in the most "X-Men" films in character, and at all he's the person who's played a comic book character in the most adaptations; now, fifteen years after appearing in the role for the first time, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is set to retire from the big screen.

Hugh Jackman's Wolverine first appeared in "X-Men" in 2000, and he's been in every adaptation of the comic ever since, even if it's just in a small cameo like in the "X-Men: First Class" reboot, where he's only featured in one scene.

In total, there have been seven Hugh Jackman Wolverine appearances: "X-Men," its two sequels "X-Men 2" and "X-Men: The Last Stand," the 2009 film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," then the cameo in the 2011 reboot, the 2013 movie "The Wolverine" and finally as one of the main characters in the film that joined in both parallel universes of the movies, "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Now, according to MTV, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is set to hang his claws after appearing in one last stand-alone film as the character, as it's been already announced that the character will get a new film in 2017, which will reportedly be his last appearance.

Rolling Stone Magazine reports that the Oscar-nominated actor (for his role as Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables") took to Instagram over the past weekend, where he posted the picture above with the caption "Wolverine... one last time," shocking fans after being used to the actor portraying the role for more than a decade.

News outlets had wondered whether the end of the Hugh Jackman Wolverine era would be in this film or in one of the two other upcoming X-Men related films, namely "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Deadpool" - however, Slash Film has already confirmed that it'll be the stand-alone Wolverine one.

In any case, fans will have to say goodbye to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in 2017.
