Morena Baccarin ‘Deadpool’ Confirmed: ‘Homeland’ Actress Playing Copycat! [PHOTOS]

No stranger to comic book adaptations (as she's recently been working in the role of Dr. Leslie Thompkins in "Gotham"), now the "Firefly" star is set to appear in yet another pop culture favorite, as Morena Baccarin's "Deadpool" performance is confirmed.

Last February, Food World News reported the first rumors of Morena Baccarin in "Deadpool," as it had been said that the 35 year-old actress was set to play a new character who fell in love with the protagonist's "hideously scarred face," joining a cast that already includes Ryan Reynolds as the title character, "Cloverfield" star T.J. Miller as Weasel and "Haywire" actress Gina Carano as Angel Dust.

According to website Coming Soon, Morena Baccarin's "Deadpool" casting was confirmed by the actress, when she posted a picture on her Twitter account that revealed a lot without saying too much at all: in the picture, seen above, the "Serenity" star shows off her chair during production, as they begin filming the movie in Vancouver.

It turns out that Morena Baccarin's "Deadpool" role is actually that of Vanessa Geraldine Carlysle, who's known in the Marvel comics as the mutant Copycat, as she holds the power to shift her own shape.

"Deadpool" is an original Marvel comic, though it won't be part of the Disney Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's rather an "X-Men" tie-in, as it's Fox Studios who own the rights to the characters. Morena Baccarin's "Deadpool" character, Copycat, made her debut at the same time as the title character in the comics, as she intended to infiltrate X-Force disguised as Domino to kill the team's leader, Cable.

Of course, it's still unknown how the character will be developed in the adaptation.

As The Wall Street Journal reports, Reynolds already made his film debut as the character in the 2009 film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and now Deadpool's getting his own film after fans have been demanding it for years.

You can watch the Morena Baccarin "Deadpool" performance next February, when the film hits theaters.
