Shailene Woodley Feminism: ‘Insurgent’ Star Refuses To Be Called Feminist, Backlash Ensues [PHOTO]

It seems like, over the past few months, every single public figure female that makes any sort of public interview has to face the question on whether or not she's a feminist, with many stars talking about different meanings for the team - including the latest Shailene Woodley feminism comments.

It's not the first time that Shailene Woodley's feminism makes headlines, after the "Fault in Our Stars" actress spoke publicly last year about not believing that women should be above men in any way, but that both genders should find a balance of power.

According to MTV, the latest news regarding Shailene Woodley's feminism comes after she was asked about the mishap from almost a year ago, as she received a lot of backlash for confusing the word "feminism" with the fight for women to be better than men, as she advocated equality but not female empowerment per se.

The Daily Mail reports that the latest Shailene Woodley's feminism comments came as a part of a new cover from Nylon Magazine, when she was asked once again whether she believed in the term.

Over the past year or so, a lot of stars have been told to take a stand on the subject, with some of them being more or less vocal about it - recently, "The Big Bang Theory" actress also spoke about not considering herself a feminist. In the meantime, "Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson seems to be taking the stand in the pro-feminist arena, as she's the face of the United Nations "He For She" campaign.

In the meantime, Shailene Woodley's feminism comments continue to be controversial.

"The reason why I don't like to say that I am a feminist or I am not a feminist is because to me it's still a label," went Shailene Woodley's feminism comments to Nylon, according to E! Online. "I do not want to be defined by one thing. Why do we have to have that label to divide us?"
