Ever since the Academy Awards over the past weekend, when a movie of Scarlett Johansson with Travolta showed the Oscar-nominated actress looking less than comfortable when the "Grease" actor kissed her on the cheek, the Internet has gone wild turning the actor into a meme - but ScarJo herself is now aiming to set the record straight.
It seems like every year there's a new controversy about John Travolta during the Oscars: back in 2014, he made headlines when he introduced Idina Menzel's performance of the "Frozen" song "Let it Go" as Adele Dazeem; this year, Scarlett Johansson's Travolta embrace during the red carpet went viral.
Now, as The Guardian reports, Scarlett Johansson's Travolta opinion becomes clear, as the beautiful 30 year-old actress steps forward to defend the "Saturday Night Fever" actor, with whom she co-starred in the 2004 drama "A Love Song for Bobby Long," remaining friends ever since.
To set the record straight, Scarlett Johansson's Travolta words came in the form of a statement, as the "Lost in Translation" star said that there had been nothing weird or creepy about their greeting at all and that, in fact, the picture was taken out of context in a moment that had otherwise been very sweet.
"The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome," said Scarlett Johansson's Travolta statement, released to the Associated Press. "That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live. Yet another way we are misguided, misinformed and sensationalized by the 24-hour news cycle. I haven't seen John in some years and it is always a pleasure to be greeted by him."
As Vanity Fair reports, the Scarlett Johansson Travolta incident quickly turned into a meme, particularly due to the fact that it was quickly followed by another odd Travolta moment, as the actor seemed a little too invasive of Idina Menzel's personal space as he apologized once again for his mishap last year.
