Melissa Rivers Tributes Joan Rivers During 2015 Oscars – Even If Academy Snubbed Her During ‘In Memoriam’

After they rolled the names of the people related to the entertainment industry who had passed away over the past year during the Oscars 2015 "In Memoriam" section introduced by Meryl Streep, many were shocked to see that Joan Rivers, the person who gave the red carpet its current notoriety, wasn't included - but her daughter Melissa Rivers tributes her just the same.

It was a tough loss for the Rivers family last year, as they're even imbued in a legal battle over medical negligence over the death of Joan, but it was nonetheless just the right time to pay respects to the comedienne, who was one of the most recognized faces in the industry, and Melissa Rivers' tribute to her mother shows a little of how much her mother meant.

As the Chicago Sun Times reports, Melissa Rivers' tribute to Joan happened during the early hours of the red carpet coverage, long before the stars actually walked in to enter the iconic Dolby Theater in Hollywood, at the moment when fashion experts are talking to each other about what to expect from the stars later in the evening.

According to The Wrap, Melissa Rivers' tribute to her mother during "Live from the Red Carpet," the show that the comedienne and Johnny Carson alumnus made famous, saw the executive producer speaking about the great moments her mother was a part of while Hollywood's biggest stars walked towards the Oscars, with big names like Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson and even Tom Hanks getting interviewed by the iconic funny woman.

E! Online reports that the Melissa Rivers tribute was not only heartfelt, but it also showed some hilarious moments from her famously quick-witted mother, as she spoke to stars like Kevin Spacey and even fighting other reporters for red carpet space!

"It's hard to believe it was twenty years ago that my mother and I stood on this very red carpet for the first time," said the proud daughter at the start of the Melissa Rivers tribute to Joan. "My mom asked questions that nobody else dared to ask."
