Gender Food Products: Food for His And Her, Will It Be Next Food Fad In Market?

Gender Food Products could be the next trending food in the supermarkets and to your home. With companies trying to promote different marketing techniques, now even food products can be labeled as 'his and her.'

One of the latest gender food products came from Stonemill Bakehouse in Canada that released their 'his and her' breads in January. The Gender Food Products they made are bread loaves where they made something for women and the other for men.

Stonemill Bakehouse is a bakery based in Toronto that offers "light-textured, milder, hemp and quinoa bread fortified with vitamin D and calcium" and packed in a pink-accented bag for women and barley and rye bread loaves added with fiber and protein for men consumers, The Star reported.

Since Stonemill Bakehouse released their gender food products last month, it has stirred strong controversy in the media and various experts.

CBC noted that the gender food products were regarded as unnecessary as it reported details concerning Hamilton Spectator comment to the new products as "decisions decision..thank goodness for his and her bread!" It also cited that Huffington Post labeled it as "the bread product you didn't know was necessary."

"The dietary needs for men and women are slightly different, and these breads were created to reflect those differences in terms of nutrients - vitamins and minerals specifically," Stonemill Bakehouse president Gottfried Boehringer wrote in a statement to Toronto Star media.

A culinary nutritionist however gave her comment on the gender food products telling that the 'his and her' products are surprisingly on the rise despite criticisms.

She cited companies may be trying to educate the public, but it doesn't reveal the same expected result as people are afraid to try something that may be something wrong for their health.

She explained with the gender food products, calcium is marketed to men and fiber to women.  She added there are certain nutrients that women need and men need too but people must be careful on what products to try.
