Peanut Butter & Co. Announces Non-GMO Certification

Health nuts now have one more reason to love Peanut Butter & Co. peanut butter.

Peanut Butter & Co. is pleased to announce that nine of its varieties of peanut butter have received non-GMO certification: Smooth Operator, Crunch Time, Cinnamon Raisin Swirl, White Chocolate Wonderful, Dark Chocolate Dreams, The Heat is On, Mighty Maple, Old Fashioned Smooth, and Old Fashioned Crunchy. The “Non-GMO Project Verified” designation comes from the Non-GMO Project, which verifies that products that go through its certification process are made with the most rigorous practices of GMO avoidance. The Non-GMO Project is North America’s sole provider of third party verification and labeling for non-GMO food and products.

GMOs are plants or animals engineered with modern DNA technology, typically to withstand direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. In the U.S., the Grocery Manufacturers Association estimates that approximately 80 percent of conventional processed food contains at least one GMO ingredient. Elsewhere, GMOs are restricted or banned in nearly 50 countries, including Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

“The Non-GMO Project Verified designation of nine of our varieties of peanut butter reaffirms Peanut Butter & Co.’s commitment to offering healthful, all natural peanut butter to our customers,” said Lee Zalben, Founder & President of Peanut Butter & Co.

To celebrate the new designation, Peanut Butter & Co. will participate in the Non-GMO Project’s Non-GMO Challenge by offering coupons for its peanut butter jars and squeeze packs to consumers who join the challenge. Coupons will be available on Monday, April 2, which has come to be known among various food enthusiasts as “National PB&J Day." Coupons can be printed at https://www.nongmoproject.org/take-action/non-gmo-challenge.
