In pure raging capitalist style, there will be a few lucky buyers of the new French Monopoly 80th anniversary box set that could play with real euros, as the company that makes the popular board game has exchanged the classic paper bills with real money in some of the sets!
Whoever has grown up playing Monopoly knows two things: one, that no friendship nor family tie survives the strain of competing in this board game; and, two, that things would be endlessly more fun in the game if they were playing with real money - and now, thanks to the French Monopoly 80th anniversary, some people will be able to fulfill this lifelong dream!
According to The Guardian, Hasbro has recently announced that a few of their French Monopoly 80th anniversary celebrate the game's birthday in a grand gesture, as game notes will be replaced with actual euros, something that would amount to an amazing 20,580 euros ($23,268).
Of course, as UPI reports, not all of the French Monopoly 80th anniversary sets will have the entirety of the notes will feature only real money - only one lucky winner will get the jackpot, while ten other sets will contain the equivalent to $340 in cash and 69 sets will have $170.
As The Washington Post reports, the idea came after the brand made a survey around the country, asking people what they'd like to see in their Monopoly sets - and a lot of them answered that they'd love to have real money to play with in their board game.
"We wanted to do something unique," said Florence Gaillard, who is the brand manager in the European country.
It seems that the survey was only directed to French players or the ones in other country were too innocent to ask for this, as the American 80th anniversary celebration only features a new box set - it's definitely a better idea to get the French Monopoly 80th anniversary edition!
