‘Independence Day 2’ Details: Liam Hemsworth Starring In Will Smith Role?

Eighteen years after the release of the original Roland Emmerich movie about an alien invasion during the 4th of July starring Will Smith, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, there are new "Independence 2" details out to the public, as the release of a sequel is confirmed - possibly starring the "Hunger Games" actor.

Confirmed to be released on June 24, 2016, "Independence 2" details have been getting out for the past few months, ever since it was announced that the film had been green lighted - and now, the media has leaked the first details of a possible casting choice, though there has been no confirmation so far.

According to The Wrap, the news outlet received the latest "Independence 2" details through an exclusive sneak peek, as their inside sources confirmed that Liam Hemsworth, known for his role in films like the "Hunger Games" series and  Billy the Kid in "The Expendables 2."

Cinema Blend reports that among the "Independence 2" details a few things can already be confirmed: for example, original director Rolamd Emmerich (famous for disaster films like "The Day After Tomorrow" and "2012") is set to take on the challenge yet again, and Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman should be reprising their roles in the sequel, as scientist David Levinson and President Thomas Whitmore (though, seeing as he was "President" in the original film nearly two decades ago, it seems unlikely he'll still be working in the Oval Office).

Other supposed rumored casting choices are Michael B. Jordan from the new "Fantastic Four" reboot, where he'll be playing the Human Torch. Will Smith isn't supposed to reprise his role from the first film.

In an article from late last year, Screen Rant reported some of the "Independence 2" details, along with plot points for the next film, as it's supposed to be a trilogy (even if the third installment doesn't have a release date yet).

"It's a changed world," Emmerich told Entertainment Weekly. "It's like parallel history. [Humans] have harnessed all this alien technology. We don't know how to duplicate it because it's organically-grown technology, but we know how to take an antigravity device and put it in a human airplane."

Audiences will just have to wait and see whether the "Independence Day" 2 details also include a starring role by Chris Hemsworth's little brother, Liam!
