Ethically aware casual dining food chain Chipotle has recently released a statement in which it explains that Chipotle pork tacos (and every other menu items featuring this kind of meat) have officially disappeared from hundreds of their restaurants, and patrons across America wonder whether this means pork will disappear entirely from the company's menus.
The company is famous for its policy of "Food with Integrity," which means they use locally grown products for their recipes in every venue in the country, as well as naturally raised meats of all kinds; now, as a problem has arisen with one of their providers, Chipotle pork tacos disappear from the menus of hundreds of their restaurants.
According to ABC News, the Chipotle pork tacos situation has come to light through a statement from the company, in which they've made it clear that one of their major suppliers had violated their quality standards and had made it impossible for them to serve pork meat countrywide, or at least in hundreds of their venues.
NBC News reports that the Chipotle pork tacos situation is currently occurring at about one third of the restaurants of the casual dining chain Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., and due to the company's strict food ethics code it's still unclear when the situation will normalize once more and allow patrons across the country to eat different products with pork.
Currently, the Chipotle pork crisis has been occurring in places as vital as venues in New York City, where signs of "No Carnitas" have been spotted outside of their restaurants.
According to Fox News, this is the first time that Chipotle completely pulls out one of their toppings for popular dishes like bowls and burritos, considering the chain's tradition of ethical food growing, as stated by spokesperson Chris Arnold.
While it's unknown when the Chipotle pork tacos situation will go back to normal, Arnold also stated that the company is looking for different ways to resolve the situation until it's all up and running in the right way.
