Hot Table, Polar Vortex Challenge drew crowds as the restaurant in Springfield's Tower Square held its second annual Hot Table Polar Vortex Challenge. The Massachusetts's restaurant, Hot Table offers free lunch to the first 100 customers who can eat outside while beating the chilly weather, Thursday.
Hot Table, Polar Vortex Challenge was held at the restaurant patio. Patrons who had joined the polar vortex challenge last year have rejoined again this year. Customers dine out while enjoying their soup and sandwiches in a five degree temperature according to WWLP.
"I have lunch and breakfast here four to five times a week. I didn't know about it last year. I would do this every year. I'm an outdoors kind of person anyway," said Marion Bright-Scott, a staff member in the Document Operations Center IT at Health New England who came there to try the challenge.
Hot Table Polar Vortex Challenge was enjoyed by its regular customers and those first timers who want to try out the challenge. While many took the challenge for free lunch, many had also preferred to stay inside the restaurant and pay their bills.

Dennis Dowling, a retired Spanish teacher from East Longmeadow High School, went to the Hot Table Polar Vortex Challenge the second time. He said he had nice chicken Panini and enjoyed it very much. It was a little bit cold out there and his fingers started suffering but otherwise it wasn't bad at all.
