Sony Decides To Release The Cheapest 4K Camcorder

Not to be outpaced in the Consumers Electronic Show in Las Vegas, Sony has its own trick up its sleeves to wow the whole world. Sony's newest venture is to market cheapest camcorder that can record 4K video. 4K, also called 4K2K is also commonly known as ultra-high definition.

According to Sony, the HDR-AX33 Handy will be the first in the series of cameras that can take ultra-high definition video with resolution of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels. Currently, Sony's cheapest camcorder in the market costs about $2,000. However, this new camcorder will be available to the market for a significantly lower price of only $1,100. The new camera will also take advantage of Sony's newest version of its optical image stabilization. Sony also decided to use a 26.9 millimeter lens to cater the cameras high resolution. Sony has not yet confirmed as to when the camcorder will be available in the market.

Another camera that was presented by Sony was the FDR-X100V 4K camera. At first look, it quickly resembles a GoPro camera, and according to Sony it was built to withstand various mishandling occurrence like accidental drop. Unfortunately, this camera misses out some features present in a typical camcorder; most notable of this is the absence of a zoom lens. The camera can shoot video in 1080p high definition. Just like the HDR-AX33, this camera also has image stabilization capability but it is only available on HD mode and not in 4K mode. This camera will go on sale for $500 according to Sony and it will be available in the market within the latter part of the year.

Releasing an mid-priced camcorder with 4K resolution might be a reasonable move for Sony since it has invested heavily on the research and development of the 4K television. Sony has already started to offer movies with the 4K resolution and said that it wants its customers to create their own movies in 4K format using their camera.
