Xiaomi Triples Its Market Sales In 2014 With 61 Million Units Sold

The emerging tech giant Xiaomi has once again proven its worth by exceeding its own expectations. Recent reports from within the company shows that it has sold more than 61 million units of smartphone in 2014. This recent figure shows an overall increase of more that 300 percent compared to its sales performance in 2013.

The China based smartphone manufacturer has reportedly generated ¥74.3 billion or close to $12 billion during 2014. The company also saw its unit sales rise from 18.7 million units sold in 2013 to 61.1 million units sold in 2014. Xiaomi's growth is definitely unparalleled and perhaps it has become one of the major driving forces in the smartphone industry. This unforgettable achievement was share by the company's head of global expansion and former executive from Google Hugo Barra through his Twitter account.

One of Xiaomi's selling points is marketing high-end products at a very low price. According to various analysts' the average price of Xiaomi smartphone is around $195 only. In addition to this Xiaomi throws in top of the line hardware to its smartphones, also Xiaomi's phones run on its very own Mi software, which is just another variant of Android. With the company's steady rise in terms of unit sales, it has crawled up to the top three stop of the biggest smartphone seller in the world just behind Apple and Samsung.

Xiaomi is chiefly marketed in China along with some select Asian countries. No official announcement has been released whether the company plans on conquering the American and European market in the near future and many analysts points out that with the current direction the company is heading a launch outside the Asian market is unlikely to get off this year.

Xiaomi is also launching its latest smartphone - called the Mi 5- this Jan. Although the CES 2015 is kicking off in a matter days the company has already shrugged off the possibility of unveiling it in the expo.
