Ronaldo Set To Break Messi’s La Liga Records

Cristiano Ronaldo, the hard hitting striker from Real Madrid C.F. is on to something this season. Scoring 25 goals in the first 15 matches of his club, Ronaldo might be eyeing to break his closest rivals record.

In the 2011-2012 season of La Liga, Lionel Messi scored 50 goals in one season, setting the record for most goals by a single. However, if Ronaldo continues high goal scoring pace it is not impossible for the Real Madrid superstar to topple his F.C. Barcelona rivals' record. The La Liga season consists of 38 games.

Aside from goals in a single season, Ronaldo, given that he maintain his currently goal scoring pace, it might be possible for him to beat Messi's career goal record.  Recently, Messi overtook Telmzo Zarra's all-time La Liga goal record, Zarra's record of 251 has been greatly overshadowed by Messi's 258 goals, and the gap will be bigger as time goes by considering the fact that Messi is still an active player.

Right now only Ronaldo and Messi are the two active players in the top 10 list for most goals in La Liga. Messi has 258 while Ronaldo has 202. To say the least, Messi has been playing for Barcelona his entire career starting 2004 while Ronaldo on the other hand haven't kicked a ball in La Liga before he was transferred from Manchester United last 2009. Although Messi might be lagging behind Ronaldo this season, he still has the years on his advantage. It is no doubt that both the players are in their prime right now but many analysts have noticed Ronaldo getting slower by the year, Messi on the other hand is two and a half years younger than Ronaldo and has experience on his side since he has played in La Liga his entire career.

The Two players are undoubtedly the best in the sports right now but the future is still uncertain especially with rumors that Manchester City is interested in buying the Argentine football superstar.
