The top four spot of the English Premier League is within arm's length of the Liverpool football club after the clubs ecstatic win over Swansea. Liverpool treated their home fans at the Anfield Stadium to 90 minutes of jaw dropping football performance.
Liverpool's Alberto Moreno scored the first goal of the match at the 32nd minute. A direct assist from Jordan Henderson gave Moreno a close range shot that hits the center of the goal. The first half ended with both team sizing each other up. Liverpool's Martin Skrtel almost scored a goal on the first minute of added time but Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski denied it.
Three minutes from the half time, Martin Skrtel was booked after a very sloppy tackle. Liverpool however quickly recovered from the mistake and scored its second goal courtesy of Adam Lallana via a long shot outside of the box. Gylfi Sigurdsson scored Swansea's only goal that night with 51 minutes in the clock. Swansea's defensive back however was not in good shape and Liverpool was quick to capitalize on that weakness. Adam Lallana scored his second goal courtesy of an assist from Philippe Coutinho at the 60th minute. Bad went to worse for Swansea after Jonjo Shelvey scored an own goal in the 68th minute. All in all, Swansea had most possession but did not have enough attacking power to break the defensive line of Liverpool. Swansea's on target shot accuracy was at its worst at 36% while Liverpool has 21 shot attempts hitting the target 11 times.
Following the recent win, Liverpool now sits confidently on the number eight spot of the English Premier League with 28 points. Just five points down to the current number four team Southampton with 33 points. Chelsea is still on top spot with 46 points as Manchester City closely follows with 43 points. Manchester United sits on the third spot with 36 points.
