For the biggest fast food chain in the world, this year has been one to beware of bad times: following the biggest sales drop in the last decade, and an issue with American West Coast workers, McDonald's 2014 has received yet another blow: a shooting in a Cleveland drive-thru.
It's been tough all over for McDonald's 2014: recently, the company even announced they were getting rid of eight items from their United States menu, following straight quarters of sales drop in the country and across the world, as the fast food chain sees its worst year in a decade.
According to NewsNet5, the latest bit of bad luck for McDonald's 2014 involves a shooting outside a drive-thru in the Ohio city. Over the past Saturday, a 19 year-old man was shot in the leg as he stood in line at his car in a McDonald's drive-thru in the city, according to local police.
It is still unknown what prompted the incident, according to Cleveland.com, but it is clear that McDonald's 2014 just took yet another blow. The police have commented that the shooting occurred on East 105th Street and St. Clair in the Ohio city of Cleveland, and that the car the 19 year-old man was driving was also damaged by gunfire; after the incident, the McDonald's venue remained open, although the drive-thru was temporarily shut down.
Earlier this week, McDonald's had announced they would be putting an end to the French fries crisis in their Japanese restaurants. The whole thing started earlier this month, as the company was having issues with their workers in the American West Coast, the same ones in charge of sending out frozen items like French fries for them to be used in the restaurants in Japan.
While the fries scandal was eventually resolved, it's clear that McDonald's 2014 was far from ideal - will the company be able to improve their image by 2015?
