Stacey Addison, Veterinarian Released From Asian Prison, Still Not Able To Return Home

Stacey Addison, Veterinarian - Stacey Addison, a 41 year-old Oregonian, had set herself to do a world-trip and ended up detained in prison for a crime she didn't commit.

The unfortunate event happened on Sept. 5, when she shared a cab with a man who asked to stop at a DHL office and the trip turned into a nightmare.

"My daughter was in the vehicle in the backseat. She was looking up her Lonely Planet to find a hostel; he came back with a package. At that point, the police surrounded the car and arrested all three of them," said Bernadette Kero, Addison's mother to CNN.

Turns out the package contained methamphetamine. The veterinarian was run a urine test to determine her involvement in drugs and it came out negative. After that, she was released.

Yet, Stacey Addison was imprisoned once again on Oct. 29, before she was released once again On Wed. on Christmas Eve. And this time, Kero hopes it is for good, according to Oregon Live.

The important detail, though, is that even though Oregon's veterinarian was released from prison, she still isn't able to return home because her passport is retained.

"Stacey is out of prison but STILL NOT FREE! She needs her passport RETURNED NOW so that she is free to come home to her family and friends!" is part of the latest post that appears on Facebook's "Please Help Stacey."

This is not the only petition for help through social media. There's also one created in Change.org, which is called "Free Dr. Stacey Addison!" is directed at President Barack Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, Minister of Justice in Timor Leste, where Addison is held, Dionisio Babo Soares and the Prosecutor General, Jose Ximenes.

There are already 98,143 signs in the petition and there are still 51,857 missing. As for the Facebook page, there are more than 15,000 people who hit the "like" button.

Hopefully, Stacey Addison, Oregon's veterinarian, will be permitted to return home soon.
