Lately, Kombucha tea has become trendy amongst the healthfully conscious. Kombucha is presumed to be beneficial to athletes and believed to improve energy and general well-being. This fermented food has lots of good bacterial and contains lots of B vitamins and vitamin C.
There's also a growing trend of people brewing their own kombucha at home. Here is the Basic Kombucha tea recipe.
Ingredients
1 gallon container with a lid
Kombucha Starter Culture – SCOBY
5 bags of green or black tea
1 cup of sugar
1 gallon purified water
cheese cover or napkin
rubber band
Directions
1. Boil water
2. Combine it with the tea bags and sugar in the container. Steep tea for 10 minutes, then remove tea bags.
3. Drop SCOBY into the tea mixture, cover the container with cloth and rubber band.
4. Set the container in a cool, dark place for a week.
5. Transfer SCOBY along with enough Kombucha to cover it to a separate container.
6. Put the lid on your Kombucha container and refrigerate it.
