How to Make Juiciest, Crispiest Fried Chicken

Fried chicken recipes are much loved by novice cooks as well as professional chefs all over the world. Among them, Southern fried chicken recipes are a particular favorite. But it is one of those foods that truly cannot be completely taught through a recipe. Here is one of the best recipe to make juiciest and crispiest fried chicken ever.

Ingredients

1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
3 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
4 cups water
1 cup flour
2 tbsp cornmeal
2 tsp dried thyme
6 cups shortening or vegetable oil

Directions

1. Season 8 pieces chicken well with salt and pepper. Set aside.
2. Mix buttermilk, eggs, and water. Dip chicken pieces in this mixture.
3. Combine flour, corn meal, dried thyme in a heavy plastic bag.
4. Shake chicken in bag until well coated.
5. Heat oil to 350°F and place chicken in a skillet. When golden brown, turn. (*Note: Cover for the first 5 minutes to get the crispy chicken.)
6. Cook additional 15-20 minutes. Drain chicken on paper towels.
