New York, Leg Lamp - The famous leg lamp that appeared in "A Christmas Story" was part of the Christmas decoration in a liquor store and a thief stole it.
A New York liquor store called the Yankee Spirits in North Tonawanda had an annual display in the front window which included a leg lamp. Now, Gary Brennan, the store's owner, laments the theft of it.
"I'm one of those freaks who's been watching longer that it's been on TBS. After I started collecting stuff for some years, me and my wife decided to bring the whole display to the store and it's been in our front window ever since," Brennan recalled and NY Post noted.
There was a surveillance video that showed a man wearing a gray hoodie and sunglasses, who enters the store and walks directly to where the leg lamp is, looks at his sides to gather if anyone's watching, grabs the leg lamp and takes it, Yahoo News reported.
The only one bothered by the theft of the leg lamp in the New York liquor store wasn't just Brennan, but he stated that even his costumers got angry at the situation that unfolded.
He also stated that the thief knew what he was doing as there was even another car waiting for him outside, as he left.
After the event happened, Brennan released the surveillance tape and showed it to the media.
"Our goal is to stop this from happening again. Somebody has gotta know this guy," he further commented.
Last but not least, the owner of the New York liquor store expressed his confusion as to why anyone would want to steal part of the decoration and that leg lamp, specifically.
He would have preferred to get a vodka stolen other than that lamp, which he and his wife had been collecting together with other decorations and putting them on the front for years.
