While David Tennant's "Doctor Who" role is by far his most famous one, the actor was also a part of the "Harry Potter" universe playing a crucial role in its fourth installment, and more recently he was also in Fox's "Gracepoint" - now, the DVD is out and it's full of Whovian references!
In his latest show, actor David Tennant from "Doctor Who" played the leading investigator in the murder of a young boy in the Fox remake of British series "Broadchurch" - and when it was time to release the series on video, there was no time missing from goofing around, Tardis style.
According to iO9, Tennant's character on the American version of the show is called Detective Carver, in a role he had played before on the original British run of the series, where it was called "Broadchurch" - but, of course, nobody was going to let David Tennant's "Doctor Who" past go by!
Now, interestingly enough, the Whovian Easter eggs are actually just mild references that the audiences took a long time to catch on. According to Zap2It, the references are so subtle it took fans of the science fiction show about a Time Lord a full month before realizing there were David Tennant "Doctor Who" references among the props.
In reality, what happened was that the man behind prop building in "Gracepoint" created a few investigation notes about the tips and phone calls related to the case that Tennant's character was working on. Last November, the show's producer Chris Chibnall posted a picture of these notes on his Twitter page, according to The Inquisitr, but Whovians only caught wind of the whole thing recently.
Hidden among the notes, between different phone numbers and the like, are the names of three of the Doctor's companions from the more recent show: Martha, Donna and Rose.
This is a definite dish for those Whovians out there - fun David Tennant "Doctor Who" references super hard to catch on!
