Holidays is literally just around the corner and you might be stressing out thinking of what else you have not done to have everything set by the 24th. So here are some foods that could help you calm down and relieve that stress you have been feeling.

One of the foods is oatmeal as it has carbohydrates that boosts the levels of the feel-good hormone known as the serotonin. It would be better if you choose the traditional oatmeal rather than the instant oats that are gaining popularity nowadays. Oats that are thicker have higher fiber and they take longer to be digested so it gives you more time to have better mood.

Blueberries are also great to be incorporated in one's diet at this time of the year as it's tasty and calming. This fruit is a great source of vitamin C and that vitamin helps relieve one's stress. It also strengthens the immune system so it helps one ward off the stressful vibes. You can even add it to other foods such as oatmeal, cereals or salads.

Citrus Fruits are also suggested as they remove stress because they are rich in antioxidants. These are also great sources of glutathione and this substance actually protects the body from other radicals that attack the immune system. According to the European Journal of Nutrition, a daily supplementation of glutathione increases one's glutathione levels resulting to a better immune system.

Pumpkin Seeds are rich in magnesium and it helps in the regulation of the stress hormone called cortisol. One ounce serving of the seeds will be providing a person with 19 percent of what is needed for the daily requirement of the said mineral. Other seeds that could also be used as an alternative are pistachios, sunflower seeds, cashews, pine nuts and almonds.

Lastly, you would like to switch from caffeine to herbal teas as they are naturally caffeine-free and it has a lot of calming substances. However, it is best to talk to your doctor first to know what tea would best suit you and your level of stress.
