Martin Freeman Wife: Who Is Amanda Abbington, Partner Of ‘The Hobbit’ Star? [PHOTOS]

As the third part of the last trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien books hits theaters, star Martin Freeman and wife Amanda Abbington have been seen in just about every red carpet event in the city, and more so since he's been nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in the HBO show "Fargo."

While it's technically inaccurate to call Amanda Abbington Martin Freeman's wife (as there has never been any confirmation that the couple have gotten married, even though United Kingdom's The Daily Express reported they had back in April), the couple have been together for more than a decade and have two children together: son Joe (who was born in 2006) and daughter Grace (from 2008).

Also an actress, Martin Freeman's wife met her now super famous partner in 2000, when they were both in the British TV movie "Men Only" - and they've been together ever since, having worked in a series of other projects. Most recently, the actress joined the cast of the BBC show "Sherlock," where Freeman plays the role of Dr. John Watson opposite Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes - it was the series that made both actors stars, as it's gathered a huge fan base in the United Kingdom and abroad.

After the series' third season ended with a cliffhanger at the beginning of 2014, fans of the show and the cast (Martin Freeman's wife became an instant hit in the show) have been aching for more, but, due to its stars' busy schedules, it doesn't seem like there will be a new season soon.

On the show, Martin Freeman's wife plays, well, the role of his character's wife, Mary Morstan. It's a character taken straight from sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books, although, of course, it was changed quite a bit for the series.

All in all, Freeman and Amanda Abbington make one of the cutest couples in Britain - they've even talked about how they're each other's favorite actors!

"He's so easy to work with and so creative. He brings something different to every single take," Martin Freeman's wife said of him to The Independent, regarding their work together on the BBC show. "He is so on top of his lines that he can dig down and find a different angle every time. That really keeps you on your toes. Both characters go on a wonderful journey, and to do that with Martin was such fun."

Unfortunately, it seems that Abbington hasn't been as successful as her partner - according to The Daily Mail, she declared bankruptcy last year, though this was before her work in "Sherlock."
