The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, visited the 9/11 Memorial on Tuesday before their three-day visit in New York City ends.  

Despite the heavy rain, the royal couple did not mind it and were geared for the winter storm as they had umbrellas over them. The royal couple paid tribute to those who were killed during the terrorist attacks back in 2001 when the twin towers were bombed. Prince William and Kate reportedly gave a floral offering, which were white roses, at the said monument. 

Aside from the flowers, a handwritten note was also left and according to the British Embassy's photo, it read: "In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th Sep & in admiration of the courage to rebuild."

The couple also took the time to visit the museum that was inaugurated earlier this year located at the Ground Zero. This is located at the entrance of the new 1 World Trade Center that has been rebuilt and reconstructed and it contains different things related to the 9/11 bombing.

Prince William and Kate also went to the headquarters of a Lower Manhattan organization called "The Door" and participated in charitable and youth-related event. The organization aims to work with disadvantaged youths and during their visit, they were presented with a performance by a group of students in the said organization.

After which, they also visited the Empire State Building and was accompanied by the New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Before formally ending their NYC visit, Prince William and Kate will be attending a fundraising dinner that will be held at the Metropolitan Museum in order to raise money for the University of St. Andrews, located in Scotland.

Last Monday, Prince William got to meet United Stated President Barack Obama as he traveled to Washington. As for Kate, she visited a neighborhood of Harlem as she was accompanied by NYC's first lady Chirlane McCray.
