Sierra Leone’s Ebola Outbreak 2014 Takes 10th Doctor Victim In West Africa’s Ebola Update

The latest news that has come out regarding Sierra Leone Ebola outbreak continue to be absolutely terrifying, as the 10th doctor has died of the virus in the West African country, raising further concerns about the way things are being handled during the epidemic.

It's been tough during the Sierra Leone Ebola outbreak, one of the West Africa nations that has seen the most damage during the epidemic. Ever since the first case appeared in the country in early 2014, it is estimated that there have been around 7,300 cases of which almost 2,000 have resulted in death.

Now, according to CBS News, Sierra Leone's Ebola outbreak has taken another victim from the country's health workers. Dr. Aiah Solomon Konoyeima, a doctor working at a children's hospital in Freetown, and he was diagnosed with the deadly disease about two weeks ago.

Dr. Konoyeima was then moved to the Hastings Ebola Treatment Center, a facility that is run exclusively by Sierra Leonean health workers, contrary to the rest of the hospitals, where they have people from all over the world working in the midst of the epidemic, as well as different health organizations from all over the globe.

According to The Daily Mail, the Sierra Leone Ebola outbreak had taken two other victims from the same profession the day before Dr. Konoyeima's death. In all, there have been a total of ten doctors that have died from the epidemic in its entire course, worrying health officials over the way patients are being treated right now.

Due to the nature of Ebola, it is said to be a caretakers' disease - mostly due to the fact that it spreads through different bodily fluids such as feces and urine. Hundreds of doctors have been treated for the disease ever since the Sierra Leone Ebola outbreak first started, including many doctors from other countries, according to Al Jazeera.
