The reviews of Peter Pan 2014 are out already, and it seems that NBC's "Peter Pan Live!" is something of a tough sale for those who make a living writing about television work.
As Entertainment Weekly puts it, following the success of NBC's live version of "The Sound of Music," Peter Pan 2014 was supposed to climb up that same ladder and bring love to houses all over the country, with a star-studded cast including the title role being played by "Girls" actress Alison Williams.
The problem with Peter Pan 2014 is that it's ultimately just too flat. While many were expected a hilariously bad epic fail from the live performance, it seems that the whole thing was just too bland for even that to happen at all.
As viewers across the country expected to absolutely hate Alison Williams' acting (which hasn't in itself shown too much promise in the HBO series that made her famous), as reviews come back, it seems that there's no such strong emotion around the actress: everyone seems just a tad unimpressed.
The Peter Pan 2014 cast, besides Williams, also counted with the multitalented Oscar-winning actor Christopher Walken as classic pirate Captain Hook, the Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver as adult Wendy Darling, Christian Borle as Mr. Smee/George Darling and Taylor Louderman and young Wendy.
According to IB Times, though, the one truly sensational bit about Peter Pan 2014 was Christopher Walken's tap dancing, which saw everyone impressed - even humor show "The Soup" said they'd stay away from making fun of it due to Walken's amazing display of dancing: nobody thought he had it in him!
While the Carrie Underwood vehicle "The Sound of Music" became popular in the sense that seeing a train wreck is interesting, it seems that Peter Pan 2014 will suffer an even worse fate: oblivion.
