‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ Remains the Box Office Victor

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" has remained to be the box office victor. Prior to the world premiere of this movie, it has dominated the Thanksgiving Day box office for the second weekend in a row. The overall haul for the recent installment of The Hunger Games series stands at over $225.7M domestically.

Critics have not taken to the movie with the same enthusiasm showed for the first installments of the series. That is actually a shame as this latest installment has the most interesting story in the franchise. While the first two installments were intelligent adaptations, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is much riskier and cerebral property. It is a mature entry, which plays closer to the grown-up war dram compared to its predecessors. It has also more intelligent things that fans will surely love.

According to Polygon, the latest installment of The Hunger Games series is actually a smarter movie. Katniss Everdeen finds herself recovering from the game, which was actually a brutal ritual wherein young individuals fight one another until death. But, with the rebel factor that Everdeen has, there is no doubt why she was always considered as the victor. However, things changed when the District 12 was destroyed, which leads to revolution and war.

Although the movie was seen as appropriately dark and quite rebellious, Everdeen, the hero, showed that there is still hope even at worst times. This is the main reason why many people embraced the exciting and thrilling Hunger Games series.

The movie that took the second place in box office is the "Penguins of Madagascar" of DreamWorks. This is the latest installment of the "Madagascar" franchise of DreamWorks, which is said to surpass the "Despicable Me" series. The comedy sequel of Warner Bros.' "Horrible Bosses 2" got the fifth place gaining $15.7M.
