‘The Walking Dead’ Mid-season 5 Finale Review: Painful and Heartbreaking

"The Walking Dead", a post-apocalyptic American horror drama TV series, has created different emotions on its Season Five finale. To keep with the tradition, the mid-season finale of "The Walking Dead" elicits an entire smorgasbord of emotions due to some unexpected events happened in the series. Just like most of the finest episodes of the series, "The Walking Dead Coda" is also absorbing enough emotions and gaining much attention from a lot of viewers.

To say that the mid-season 5 finale is heavy on the violence is actually an understatement. There is a notable cranial damage from the beginning until the end, with the massacre inside the church being a highlight.

The uselessness of Father Gabriel has a very nice pay-off, as his seemingly exciting journey into the wilds becomes a race to escape a crowd of zombies and then ends with the church becoming overrun by the walkers. It is now a return to form for Michonne.

However, the real star of such episode is actually Emily Kinney, who plays the role of Beth, giving admirable, emotional performance. Although her death does not come as a total surprise for everyone, it I still a great loss.

The reaction of Maggie to the death of her sister is very touching and it gives an indication of what's to come for her character. It is of note that she has seemed very indecisive this season, but it seems that the impact of her sister's death will be going to send her off in a new direction.

Just like the premiere of the series, the post-credit scene provides a glimpse of what will happen to the rest of the season and what events the viewers can anticipate. Although it does not tell the audience anything new, it provides a degree of hope at the end of the tragic episode.
