‘The Voice’ Achieves 20 million Song Downloads on iTunes

Before the end of its 7th season, "The Voice" can now hang a sign that reads 'over twenty million sold.' Carson Daly, the NBC music competition's host announced that "The Voice" has reached another important milestone in the season and it is by hitting the twenty million mark for iTunes downloads. The downloads are actually all songs that were performed on the weekly show and don't include the songs that were released by post-competition winners, Tessanne Chin, Danielle Bradbery and Cassadee Pope. During the competition, the Republic Records is releasing all of the show's music.

Unlike "American Idol", "The Voice" has essentially released sales figures since the show's inception a few years ago and it has enables tracks from the show to appear on the Billboard Charts and iTunes. "The Voice" hit the ten million mark in the late May 2013, just about midway through the fourth season.

From Paul Telegdy's perspective, the president of alternative & late night programming at NBC, the twenty million downloads is a manifestation of the extreme fanaticism for the show as well as its unique role in discovering music.

Telgedy also said that such twenty million that emanated from the show does not really tell the entire story, noting the great number of past participants and contestants who have worked together and those who make a living from music. He also explained that music isn't about instant stardom or popularity. The unique stories that get traction today in the mainstream are actually more about hard work and substance. The artists, coaches and the entire management have worked together to obtain such achievement.

Now, "The Voice" is constantly remaining on top and is always becoming the number one reality series that pull in an average of 13.9 million audiences and viewers every show. This is based on Nielson Media Research.
