Types Of Butter You Should Know About

Butter-making dates back nearly 10,000 years ago when dairy products started gaining popularity. Over time, butter saw different forms and types based on the purpose it holds. Butter has always been one of the most used dairy products and is made out of natural ingredients only. Here are a few forms of butter that you should be aware of.

Organic butter- The butter that comes from cattle that are raised organically with no hormones is called organic butter. It is one of the healthiest forms of butter since it has no toxic ingredients.

Cultured butter - Cultured butter is butter that is cultured with the help of bacteria. The process of making cultured butter is quite similar to making yogurt. The shelf-life of cultured butter is longer than other types.

Unsalted butter - This is the kind of butter that is used by most chefs for most cooking jobs. This is because when you add unsalted butter you can add as much as salt as you wish to add. Unsalted butter has mostly milk fat in it.

Blended butter - Blended butter is a blend of normal butter and canola oil. It is way easier to use since it can be taken from the fridge and used instantly.

Churned butter - Churned butter is the usual traditional butter except that it is made of churning pasteurized cream. Churned butter also comes in the salted and unsalted form. The components of churned butter are 80 percent fat, 16 percent water and nearly three percent milk solids.

Butterlike spread - Butterlike spread is not real butter. The profile of butter like spread is similar to butter but has very little of the butter in it. It is made by blending vegetable oils and other fillers.

Light butter - Light butter is lower in butterfat and is healthier when compared to normal butter. In fact, light butter is normal butter that is made of more water and air.
