We’re less than a month away from Lara Croft’s next adventure. Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming to Xbox One and 360 on November 10, 2015 in North America and November 13, 2015 in Europe. The game promises to continue the franchises’ signature blend of exploration, action, and platforming.
To whet gamer's appetites for the impending launch, publisher Square Enix has just unveiled the first 27 minutes of gameplay. The video, which comes ">courtesy of the folks over at IGN, begins with Lara traversing a snowy mountain pass as gale force winds threaten to send her flying of the edge.
The frigid opening set piece then cuts to London; with Lara investigating a new lead from her father's research that concerns the 'secret of immortality'. Her mother warns against any more adventures, but the younger Croft remains determined to continue her dad's work. The discovery points her to Syria, and the game's tutorial sequence.
After some running and jumping about, the preview ends with Lara stumbling upon a giant set of ruins hidden in an underground cavern.
It admittedly isn't much, but it's certainly enough to sate fans until the game launches in a few weeks.
Last week Head of Product Development Darrell Gallagher posted this message to fans on the official Tomb Raider tumblr:
"We are pleased to confirm that gamers will be able to get their hands on Rise of the Tomb Raider very soon, when the game launches on November 10th, the entire team challenged themselves to improve on the last game that millions of fans enjoyed so much, and we believe we have created a worthy sequel to Tomb Raider 2013. With the game development now complete we are excited to share this incredible next chapter in Lara's journey as she continues her growth into the ultimate action adventure icon, and accepts her destiny to become the Tomb Raider."
