Sign up for Jamie Oliver Food Education, the wakeup call to every nation to realize the importance of food knowledge, and how even young people can make a difference in the 21st century.
On Friday, May 15 marks the Food Revolution Day, and according to Jamie Oliver Food Education, every nation must join in including food education in every curriculum around the world, and at the same time let everyone be aware of its importance through the social media, the main site of Oliver's change.org.
Food Revolution Day is hosted by Jamie Oliver, and supported by the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation (JOFF). As of this writing, there are about 182 countries joining the petition while there are over 882, 900 signatures had been collected on its main site.
Why is Jamie Oliver Food Education crucial?
With global obesity epidemic, the world is currently facing an astounding figure of overweight and obese people. As reported by Tree Hugger, there are 42 million children across the world under the age of five who are either overweight or obese.
What's more severe, there's one out of the three children in the U.S. who is overweight or obese. And by 2030, it was forecasted that about 41 percent of the world's population will be classified as overweight or obese.
Once the petition of Jamie Oliver Food Education reached 1 million signatures, the step will be easier to let the G20 governments (19 countries plus the European Union) support the movement of promoting food education in every country.
Food Tank elaborates that Jamie Oliver Food Education aim is to "create a strong sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again, and empower people everywhere to fight obesity."
In time for the celebration on Friday, several notable musicians will be joining Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Theme Song including Ed Sheeran, Paul McCartney, Chris Martin, Paloma Faith, Jazzie B., Jamie Cullum and Alesha Dixon.
